Traffic restrictions in central Athens for SNF evening races on Sunday

Despite the race taking place in the evening, stopping and parking vehicles will be prohibited at these avenues and roads as of 06:00 on Sunday

Traffic restrictions will be implemented in Athens on Sunday, June 23, because of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s "SNF-RUN: Running to the Future" evening races.

The restictions will be introduced in the municipalities of Athens and Kallithea, affecting major roads and avenues like Syngrou, Vassilissis Sofias, Vassileos Konstantinou, Vassileos Georgiou I, Irodou Attikou, Stadiou, Eolou, and the area around Syntagma Square.

Despite the race taking place in the evening, stopping and parking vehicles will be prohibited at these avenues and roads as of 06:00 on Sunday, while additional traffic restrictions will take effect from 19:00 to about 23:00 on the day.

The first two races - 6K and 10K runs -will start at the Panathenaic Stadium (known as Kallimarmaron) at 20:50 and 21:10 respectively, with runners crossing the city center and returning through Syngrou to finish at the SNFCC running track. The race also includes a 1K run for Special Olympics athletes.

At the same time, the SNF will be holding events of the Summer Nostos Festival in the Cultural Center area.
